Bring Home One of These Furry Friends for Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Week

Did you know that while puppies and kittens are the first to be adopted, other pets may wait months or years in shelters due to no fault of their own? To shine a spotlight on animals that are often overlooked, Petfinder developed Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable-Pet-Week, which is this week. So please consider changing the lives of any one of these deserving animals – you’ll be glad you did.

Animals You Can Bring Home for Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet Week

Available for adoption at North Shore Animal League America

Simba and Sushi
Simba and Sushi

**Double Adoption** One-year-old Simba (Adoption #SCR3139) and 2-year-old Sushi (Adoption #NCI2607) each lost their (separate) homes recently but discovered a newfound friendship in the room they shared at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center.

While Simba has felt agitated by the changes in his life, Sushi has been an encouraging mentor, correcting Simba’s overly energetic behavior and showing him a more appropriate way to pursue friendships.

Animal League America has loved watching the missing pieces to their puzzles come together and would be thrilled to share the brotherhood they’ve created with an experienced adopter who has the quiet, predictable home we know these tender boys would enjoy. If you have older kids (over age 10) ready to make way for a lasting friendship, please consider Simba and Sushi as the missing piece to your family puzzle!

Lefkada
Lefkada

Momma Lefkada (Adoption #H211337) is worn out after providing excellent care for her kittens. Now that she’s safely off the streets and mothering work is behind her, she’s regaining her confidence amidst human hands. This deserving 2-year-old tabby would settle into her first home best with the guidance of a cat-experienced adopter and a household (with any children over age eight) that will set a calm mood, so she knows she is safe. If your heart is open to offering her a peaceful place to settle into, Lefkada is ready to put her past strife behind her and join you in a tranquil furever.

Mystique and Magneto
Mystique and Magneto

**Double Adoption** When 4-month-olds Mystique (female) (Adoption #H211521) and Magneto (male) (Adoption #H211522) arrived from their local rescue, Animal League America instantly saw they’d loved to spend together furever, nurturing each other through the changes in their lives. They’ve experienced the hardship of growing up outdoors; now they’re ready to embrace the good times ahead with their first family indoors. Your quiet home (with children older than six) is the destination about which they dream. You’ll be enchanted by this pair of tuxedo kittens, and we’re hoping that leads to the happily ever after they deserve!

Havana and Palma
Havana and Palma

**Double Adoption** When life seems overwhelming; it helps to have a sister by your side. Shy 5-month-olds Havana (Adoption #G28801) and her braver sister Palma (Adoption #G28803) will get to experience all of life’s firsts together so we’re looking for a family who’ll nurture away any concerns and open their hearts to new adventures. Palma is already showing Havana how much fun toys are. Just a little gentle encouragement is all that’s needed to brighten their days, and you’ll have the cutest cherubs to call yours!

Lollipop and Candy Corn
Lollipop and Candy Corn

**Double Adoption** After fending for themselves outdoors, Lollipop (Adoption #H211633) and Candy Corn (Adoption #H211634) have been offered a sweet life indoors together! While they are shy with humans, they’ve gained a lot of confidence knowing they have each other as they share this journey. Do you have experience nurturing timid cats into domestic home life?  Can you offer them a quiet place to settle (with any children over age six) to make the transition into a family predictable and smooth? You may have everything these sweet treats need to succeed!

Licorice
Licorice

Five-month-old Licorice (Adoption #H211645) was offered a chance to spend furever inside. His local rescuer even gave him some time in their own home before delivering him to Animal League America for safety. Licorice lived with other cats in his foster home and would benefit from a confident cat in his next home to show him the ropes.  A quiet home (with children over age eight) will help him adjust quickly. Animal League America is looking forward to introducing this shy mini-housepanther to his wonderful new family—hopefully very soon!

Sally
Sally

When 4-year-old Sally’s (Adoption #R164904) family moved away, she wasn’t part of their relocation plan. Animal League America is glad to welcome her back, and she’s very grateful for the opportunity to find a new home for herself. A family with kids over age ten and no other pets will set Sally up for success. She’s already expressed her appreciation for loving attention—ear rubs are her favorite! This sleek beauty has a little white patch under her chin just waiting to be scratched by you furever!

Rudy
Rudy

Seven-year-old Rudy (Adoption #H207576) lost the only home he’s ever known, but with an open heart, he looks to his new friends at Animal League America to help him cope with the changes he’s enduring. They’re thrilled to be by his side as they find him someone new who’ll adore him. Their vets have put him on a diet to help him get back into tip top shape, and this sweet boy can look forward to having more energy to explore his home, but not too much because after all, snuggling is his very favorite activity!   If you need a best buddy to snuggle, he’s your boy.

You may be able to tell by her name that Luscious is a very affectionate and smart tuxedo cat. She looks like she even got her toes painted to match the outfit! Luscious loves to play and be pampered. She doesn’t mind being carried around the house. Luscious does require some time to be introduced to other cats, and she’s definitely a lady who likes to be the head of the household.  To adopt Luscious, complete an adoption application here: https://www.tenderlovingcats.org/adoption-application.html.

Holly and Mistletow
Holly and Mistletow

**Double Adoption** Holly and Mistletoe are a mother and daughter pair who ended up in the Animal Shelter after their previous owner became ill. Holly is 8 years old, while Mistletoe is 7 years old. Holly had Mistletoe when she was very young, so these two have grown up together. Holly is outgoing and friendly with everyone she meets, while it takes Mistletoe a little bit of time to learn to trust people. Holly and Mistletoe would do well in a home with children and other cats. It would be wonderful for these two to be adopted into the same family. To adopt this dynamic duo, call the shelter at 631-360-7575 for more information today!

As always, thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
