Dining Scene Additions: Smoke Shack BBQ, Toast Coffee and Kitchen, And Just Salad!

Dining Scene 1

Here are the new restaurants from the dining scene section of the Press!

Smoke Shack BBQ

Michael Cahill and his son Brandon Cahill opened their second Smoke Shack BBQ last month in Center Moriches.

The new location will serve various franchise specialties. Staple items such as hot dogs, burgers and wings make up the menu, but what steals the show is their signature barbecue sauce. The family recipe tops off pulled pork and ribs as well as their fully loaded fries.

The Cahills’ family business initially operated as a food truck in the Moriches area. Their first location in Mastic Beach opened last year, and now they will have a permanent fixture in their starting community.

TOAST COFFEE AND KITCHEN

Toast Coffee and Kitchen opened its first Nassau County location in August. Three locations in Port Jefferson Station, Patchogue and Bayshore have seen great success, leading to the company’s fourth location in Long Beach.

The breakfast and lunch venue offers various takes on popular dishes. Breakfast favorites include eggs Benedict, corned beef hash and eggs, and a three-ring circus of eggs, pancakes, and home fries. Lunch items include wraps, burgers, and sandwiches, but specialties include Reuben and other chicken sandwiches.

In June, the company opened Revival by Toast, a small-plate store in Port Jefferson. Now, three months later, the exciting times continue for founder Terence Scarlatos, as Toast expands its roots into Nassau County.

New York City-based Just Salad opened its doors to their fourth Long Island location. Located in Oceanside, it opened three months after the openings of Commack and Westbury stores in January and April, respectively.

The menu features takes on hot and cold health foods. Various chicken salads comprise the cold section, such as honey crispy, Caesar, buffalo and chicken pita. Warm bowls include the cilantro lime chicken and chicken fajita bowls. Other specialties include wraps, chicken noodle soup, avocado toast, and plant-based beverages.

A fourth location in Huntington held its soft opening in August, with a grand opening scheduled for October.
