Long Island University (LIU) has purchased the former Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center, which is officially located in Greenvale, for $8.5 million.
The center, which was also known as “Camp Jacobson,” had been forced by the Village of Brookville to close down in 2022 after failing to comply with zoning regulations. Camp Jacobson had purchased the land from Robin Hood Country Day School in 2008, which has since moved to Westbury.
The zoning battle came after there had been complaints by neighbors of the center about noise and traffic.
LIU has not responded to requests for comment, and their purposes for the property remain unclear.
The property is near LIU’S North Shore Equestrian Center.
