Long Island Snowfall Amounts Exceed Forecast

A winter storm dumped more snow than expected on Long Island early Saturday morning after forecasters initially predicted only a couple of inches of the white stuff would coat the region.

A single-engine airplane made an emergency landing on the eastbound side Southern State Parkway near exit 34, located near Republic Airport in Farmingdale, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed.
