The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District’s Board of Education meeting on June 19 celebrated the dedication and hard work of this year’s retirees. The meeting was held in the Oyster Bay High School auditorium, and members of the community were encouraged to come join in on the celebration.
Honorees included board member Darren Gerbosi, elementary teacher Jane Cammarata and school nurse Eileen McCartney.
Board of Education Trustee Darren Gerbosi was honored by the school district’s superintendent, Dr. Francesco Ianni, for his work on the board. Gerbosi has been a committed member for the past eight years. At the event, Dr. Ianni presented Gerbosi with a plaque for his service to the district.
Jane Cammarata is an elementary school teacher who has taught for 31 years. Cammarata has taught at the pre-K, kindergarten and first-grade levels during her time at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District. Cammarata was an important figure for many young learners and the district is appreciative of all her hard work and dedication.
Eileen McCartney is a school nurse that has worked for the district for the past 28 years. Throughout her time there, she has spent time at every school in the district. Her support and encouragement to students and athletes, even in times of crisis, was exemplary.
The district is thankful for all of its retirees and wishes them the best of luck in their retirement.
