Following the installation of the Mackay Estate Gate Lodge’s custom-fabricated replica windows and doors in fall 2024, the next step in the restoration process will be to repair the historic structure’s roof. On July 3, 2024, historic architect John Collins visited the Gate Lodge site in East Hills to get a closer look at the building’s slate tile roofing using drone technology.
Arial shots provided by drone tech have offered useful insight on the most pressing sections of rooftop decay, and will aid in the repair and reconstruction process of this important historical structure.
