Harbor Hill Elementary students took part in a schoolwide election focused on creativity and school pride. Each student created an original piece of artwork in art class to illustrate what the motto “We Can and We Will at Harbor Hill” means to them.

Parents from the Parent Faculty Association and the Shared Decision Committee compiled the artwork into a document and created a Google Form that served as the students’ ballot for selecting their favorite design in a primary round. After the primary, a general election was held on Dec. 2, during which students in each grade voted for one artwork to be featured on items including stickers, bookmarks, keychains, next year’s agenda book cover and the fifth-grade field day T-shirts.

“The Shared Decision Committee has been working on this activity for the past few years, and it was wonderful seeing it come to fruition,” Harbor Hill Principal Michelle Hazen said. “The students had so much fun being part of and learning about the election process.”
