Shelter Rock Public Library’s Crochet for a Cause program brings neighbors together every Thursday at 10 a.m. to create handmade items for local organizations serving individuals and families in need. The year-round program welcomes adults of all skill levels to learn new techniques, share knowledge, and collaborate on projects that provide comfort to the community.
Participants craft hats, scarves, blankets, and other comfort items, which are distributed to partner agencies throughout the region. The group offers a supportive environment for beginners and a collaborative space for experienced crafters who contribute to larger donation efforts.
“Week after week, our volunteers not only dedicate their time to helping others, but also form meaningful connections with one another,” said Alexis Pieters, Adult Program Coordinator. “Their dedication reflects the library’s commitment to fostering community.”
The library accepts yarn donations to help sustain the program; full skeins are preferred. Those interested in participating in Crochet for a Cause or donating materials can find additional information on the library’s event calendar
