The Long Island Press is excited to share a quick update about an important technology upgrade designed to improve how readers access our coverage.

We have officially launched a new and improved account creation and login system, making it easier, faster, and more reliable for readers to enjoy our local journalism.

Best of all, sign-up remains completely free. Readers can continue using their existing login credentials, and there’s no change to our commitment to keeping local news accessible to everyone.

If you already have an account, the transition is seamless. If you initially signed up with Google, you can continue to do so easily. However, if you originally created your account with an email and password — even if you later linked Google — please use your original email and password for this first login.

The new system significantly reduces friction when accessing articles. Logging in to LongIslandPress.com is now faster and smoother, and readers can preview a portion of an article before being prompted to sign in — so you can quickly see what a story is about before continuing.

This upgrade also resolves technical issues that some readers previously experienced, ensuring a more stable and dependable reading experience across devices.

Behind the scenes, the update gives us clearer insights into what our most engaged readers care about. That means we can better tailor our coverage to the local stories, events, and issues that matter most to our community.

In short, this improvement makes it easier than ever to connect with our reporting and to stay informed about what’s happening where you live.

Thank you for reading and for supporting local journalism.
