Roslyn High School’s Science Bowl Team traveled to Brookhaven National Laboratories to compete in the annual Long Island Science Bowl on Friday, Jan. 30. Building on a third place finish in 2025, the team achieved its strongest result ever, earning second place.

The team was led by senior Matthew Lin, with returning members seniors Serin Jo and Maxwell Lippman, joined by junior Hyun Chavez and sophomore Hailey Hwang. After three decisive victories in the round-robin portion of the competition, the team advanced to the double-elimination bracket. There, they triumphed over every team except perennial favorite Ward Melville.

“They were amazing!” said Allyson Weseley, coach of the Roslyn team. “I was so impressed by the breadth and depth of their knowledge, and the way they work together as a team.”
