The Mayor’s Corner: June 26, 2009

Our Gazebo concerts have been very generously supported by local businesses. I thank them for their donations. Our concert last week was again held in Village Hall due to the weather. Gene Benedetto entertained with a few tunes and then decided to reschedule for a hopefully sunny evening. The dates will be announced. Thank you to PETER ANDREWS for sponsoring this concert and for handing out beautiful frames for all guests. Please remember to patronize our local businesses.

The next concert will be Thursday July 9th with Phil Amarante Jazz, sponsored by RALPH’S ICES. Hope you all can attend these concerts and enjoy some great music. On Wednesday July 15 at 8:00 p.m. the Village will again sponsor our annual NASSAU POPS concert at Cross Street School field.
The Roger Fay Williston Park Pool opened to a rainy day last Saturday with many attempting a swim between rain drops. While the rain held out for a while, most patrons returned home to hope for sunnier days.
Father’s Day was enjoyed by a few families at the pool, with all new planned activities, compliments of our new Activities Director, Megan McNeely. Pool Director Marianne Lobaccaro and Assistant Director Sean Egan are back again this year to run another great season at the pool. The new slide is in and was enjoyed by many these past few days.
The “SUNWISE” Melanoma Awareness Foundation sponsored by the Rotary was at the pool opening day with suntan lotion and information for all concerning sun safety. SUNWISE has also provided suntan lotion dispensers for the pool season for all patrons to use. Thank you to The Rotary Club for this great service.
The Pool calendar is filled with great family activities.
A reminder for 4th of July: The village will have a parade that day, sponsored by the Williston Park Fire Department and the Pool has many activities and Water Olympics scheduled for that day. Updates to follow.
Congratulations to all of our graduates here in town. Best of luck in your future studies and plans.
Our next Village Of Williston Park Board meeting will be on Monday July 20, 2009 at 8:p.m. The warm weather brings out many walkers and children into our streets. School will also be ending within the next week. Please be careful when driving around town and follow all posted signs. Slow down and please stop fully at stop signs. The Village website is: www.villageofwillistonpark.org.
See you around Town!
