Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilman Gary Hudes have announced that the reconstruction of several parking fields in Levittown has commenced and is near completion.
The first parking area is located north of Hempstead Turnpike between Wolcott Road and Schoolhouse Road. The project involves three individual roads/parking lots that service Wolcott Road Pool and various stores. The improvements include the construction of new curbs, installation of pedestrian access ramps, sidewalks, lighting, new asphalt pavement and the restoration of disturbed grass areas.
The second parking area is located on Hempstead Turnpike in the vicinity of the Tri-County Flea Market at Division Avenue. This project includes improvement to drainage, new asphalt pavement and new striping.
“The constant freezing and thawing conditions of winter can play havoc on our roads and parking lots, and now is the ideal time to rehabilitate areas that are in need of repaving,” remarked Murray. “Keeping town thoroughfares in good repair increases safety and reduces maintenance costs.”
“During the construction process, the town and its contractor take all possible measures to limit the inconvenience to residents,” commented Hudes. “We trust the benefits and appearance of the completed projects will more than offset any temporary inconvenience caused by the construction.”
“Continuing to invest in community upgrades is another way the Town of Hempstead is improving the quality of life for residents,” concluded Murray.
