Quantcast

From the Desk of Mayor Butch Starkie – August 7, 2009

(Editor’s Note: The Mayor’s Column will run occasionally as submitted by the village.)

It has been brought to my attention from a resident that, as a public service, I should reach out to the local business community and request that all employees who make home deliveries have photo identification on their person when going to people’s homes.

I can see this person’s point that if a delivery is being made from a drug store or other retail establishment that has a nondescript vehicle, it could put people at risk. All major utilities make it a point to have credentials on hand when visiting homes. However, for other establishments that don’t follow a similar practice, please consider doing so. I have not heard of any local situations of this type of home invasion but it sounded like a well-intentioned, safe, good idea.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and I hope to see you On the Green for our last two Pops Concerts and our nighttime movies.
