District Outlines Goals For Coming Year

The New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District Board of Education met this summer, for their first annual retreat, to finalize their working document of a Five Year Strategic Plan and to establish working goals for the academic year. The Board of Education working alongside of the Superintendent has committed to the following three goals, and has put into place a quarterly monitoring system to evaluate our progress toward our goals.

Goal 1 -The district is committed to continuously improving the efficiency of the district through the implementation of a strategic Five Year Plan designed to improve day-to-day operations in a fiscally responsible manner, and measured by the completed plan tasks on an annual basis.

Goal 2 – The New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District is committed to continuously improving student achievement, and will implement their Response to Intervention Model in grades K – 2 throughout the district, through the creation and utilization of a Tier I and Tier II Pyramid of Intervention. This goal will provide instructional strategies for all classroom teachers by June 2010, in order to result in a 5 percent reduction of referrals to the Committee of Special Education during the year.

Goal 3 -The New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District wants to increase public knowledge of district activities, accomplishments, and on-going operations through both traditional and technological communication tools during the course of this academic year to result in an increase of attendance at board meetings by 5 percent, and an increase of hits to our website by 5 percent as well.

We hope that these goals will help our entire community work together to assist us in our quest to become a “District of Excellence,” regarding student achievement across all disciplines.
