Last Game Before the Championship Bout

The Mid-Island Rolling Thundercats take on the East End Ladies of Laceration at Skate Safe America, 182 Bethpage Sweet Hollow Rd., Old Bethpage. (249-1717). Doors open at 7 p.m.; whistle blows at 8 p.m. Tickets $10 in advance; $15 at the door; children under 8 free.

Car Wash

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Regional School will hold a car wash from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. at the Bellmore Knights of Columbus, 2333 Bellmore Ave. The cost will be $5 for cars and $7 for trucks.

Soldiers’ Angels Fundraiser

Soldiers’ Angels is holding a fundraiser at Johhny McGoreys, Front St., Massapequa Park. The event will be from 5 to 9 p.m. with a $5 door donation and $3 drinks until 7 pm. There will be raffles and food and entertainment. Soldiers’ Angels is a volunteer led non profit 501(c)(3) organization with over 1,200 volunteers in this area. Their mission is to aid and support the brave men and women of the United States military, veterans and their families.

Home Improvement Fraud Presentation

A representative from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office will speak to the Nassau Chapter of CSEA Retirees about home improvement fraud, as part of Cuomo’s statewide Consumer Awareness Initiative. The presentation will be held at noon a Levittown Hall, Levittown Pky., Hicksville.

Meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview. An exciting meeting is planned featuring Jack Schnur who will play audio-visual clips from his collection of the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Mr. Schnur will present music from such shows and films as Oklahoma, Carousel and South Pacific. Hear stars such as Mary Martin, Gordon MacRae and Ezio Pinza reprise their original roles in these classics. The public is invited to attend.

Adventureland for Families with Autism

Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism is hosting A Special Night for Our Special Kids at Adventureland, Route 110, Farmingdale, for families touched by autism. For this special evening the amusement park will be closed to the general public and available only to people with autism and their families and friends. Adventureland will be at reduced capacity on the evening of the event, making it easier for our friends with autism and more manageable for their families. Waiting lines for rides are very brief and the atmosphere is very relaxed and caring. The event will take place during the hours of 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Tickets are $17 in advance; $20 at the door. Garage Sale and Fall Festival

Northside Elementary School’s PTA is holding its annual garage sale and fall festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine. The school is located at 55 Powell Pl. (north on Main St. to the end). Shop ‘til you drop – all items priced to sell, something for everyone and nothing held back. Find indoor and outdoor toys, books, music CDs, puzzles, tools, housewares, seasonal items, bikes, electronics, knick-knacks, baby items and more. Refreshments, snacks and drinks will be available, in addition to pumpkins for sale. For kids, there will be face painting, tattoos, crafts and games from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit programs for the students at Northside sponsored by the PTA.

See the Birds in Massapequa Preserve

Join the South Shore Audubon Society for a bird walk at the Massapequa Preserve from 9:30 a.m. to noon. In addition to the resident populations, this is time for migrating birds. The walk leaders and other birders and nature enthusiasts will be happy to share their knowledge and experience with you. The bird walk is free. Bring binoculars. Rain will cancel. Public Meeting Regarding Village Master Plan

The mayor and board of trustees of the Village of Farmingdale invite residents to a public meeting at Village Hall, 361 Main St., starting at 7 p.m.,on the Village of Farmingdale’s Downtown Master Plan. This Master Plan update was made possible through a generous grant secured by County Executive Thomas Suozzi and Senator Kemp Hannon. The public meeting will be led by the village’s planning consultant, Saccardi & Schiff, after which the meeting will be open to the public for questions and discussion. Our Heroes Night Out Fundraiser for Homeless Veterans

From 3 to 7 p.m. Center Lane Pizza and MisMatch and YooHoo the clowns will be hosting a fund raiser at the Center Lane Pizza, Levittown. Twenty percent of the profits will go towards Our Heroes Night Out – a program that provides events for the homeless veterans. There will be lots of fun entertainment for the family. Face painting, balloons, cotton candy magic show and other fun surprises. Bring a food item and receive $1 off purchase. Food will go to a local food pantry. Volunteers Needed

The Mill Neck Family of Organizations is seeking volunteers to work at food sales, children’s activities, apple booths and more during the Fall Harvest Festival to be held on Oct. 10 and 11. The outdoor festival, known as “Apple Sale,” features a wide variety of apples and seasonable produce, craft items, a Cheese House, deaf specialty items and much more. Volunteer support from local civic and church groups, students, alumni, staff, parents and faithful supporters, have made this a special and memorable event. Volunteers can work from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 12:30 to 5 p.m. or all day. Food tickets will be provided for all volunteers who work four or more hours. This year, the Mill Neck Family will host a “Kick-Off Breakfast for Volunteers” on Oct. 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Deaf Education Center. Open to all 2009 volunteers ages 16 and over, the event will feature a delicious continental breakfast, an orientation and a long-time volunteer recognition ceremony. Have a fond Fall Harvest Memory?
