12/13 Year Old Team – The Titans senior team (12/13 year olds) lost a tough, extremely physical game to Glen Cove Sunday 16-6. Joe Alvarez scored on a sweep late in the 4th quarter after being set up on good runs from Brian Gillmore and Jyaire Ewa. Great Titans defense caused 4 turnovers and was led by Tom Ammarati, Kenny Laine, Mike Callahan, Peter Cohen and Sam Maybury and kept the game interesting throughout. The seniors have now played 2 of the toughest teams in the league in successive weeks and have gone to the wire with both. Next week they meet Seaford at home at Allen Park on Saturday night at 8 p.m.
10/11 White Team – This week it was Hakeem Cesars turn to shine as the Farmingdale Titans beat the West Babylon Eagles 32-19. He rushed for two long touchdowns. One for 84 yards and the other for 74 yards and he had two receptions for 54 yards and for 46 yards. Hakeem capped the night off with 4 touchdowns total. Not to go without mentioning that the other tail back J-Rod, Justin Rodriguez scored a touchdown of his own for 66 yards and had over 100 yards rushing and 66 yards receiving as well. Quarterback Matt Deluca had a stellar performance as the defensive tackle. The tailbacks, Tom MacCarthy, Alex Preistley, CJ Demers, Steven Boyle and Angelo Deluca had a great performance. Travis Gangale had 7 yards rushing and scored on an extra point that was called back. Joeseph Cincotta, not to be undone, made his debut in the back field with two backbreaking rushes to secure the win rushing for 7 yards and 6 yards and a first down. In addition, there were stellar defensive efforts by Jonathan Gala and Isaiah Micthell. Zane Ehlinger’s exuberance on the field was not unnoticed.
/9 White Team – The 8/9 Titans lost a tough game this week against the Plainview Jayhawks. The Titans came out strong in the first half with great runs by Chris Honan, John Hettrich and Vincent Delia, capped off by a 10-yard rushing scored by Anthony Armstrong to put the Titans up 6-0. The Jayhawks went on to score 3 unanswered TD’s giving them an 18-6 halftime lead. Although the offensive line including Sean Callias, Kyle Horstmann and Ryan Hynes played their hearts out, it wasn’t enough to come back. The Titans did show some more sparks in the fourth quarter thanks to a 10 yard run by John Hettrich and a brilliant 50-yard TD by Chris Honan but it wasn’t enough. The Titans fell, 31-12.
8/9 Green Team – The 8/9 Titans Green team hosted the Copiague Eagles in the home opener on the brand new turf field at Farmingdale High School. Mike Grossmann and Steve Nostrand carried the offense as best they could in the first half against a much bigger Eagle defense. Going into the second half, Devron James and Andrew Sullivan were converted from lineman to running backs as the Titans tried to make adjustments. On defense Jonathan Krawchuck, Sean Hellmich and Mike Trottia each added to their tackle count with 2, 2 and 3, respectively. Final score: Eagles 28 – Titans 0.
6/7 Year Old Team – The Titans fell to Valley Stream, 32-13. The final score didn’t indicate how close this game was after the first half. Valley Stream was up 13-6 with 1 minute left in the half. The Titans had the ball on the Valley Stream 13-yard line. Justin Steinheimer followed the huge block of Chris Maddie down the right side but unfortunately was tackled. The superstar of the day was Justin Steinheimer who rushed for 235 yards on 14 carries. He had both touchdowns on runs of 61 and 60 yards and an opening drive run of 69 yards. He also had 5 tackles on defense. Having another outstanding game was rejuvenated Christian Picone who rushed for 41 yards on 6 carries. He had another terrific day on defense with 10 tackles of which, 2 were touchdown saving tackles. QB Austin Gangale and his Titan offense managed over 260 yards of offense and 13 points. Gio Barroso, Michael Spichalsky, Jacob Lamboy and Danny Gannett provided the necessary blocking for the Titans. Aside from Christian and Justin providing key plays on defense, Tyler Tuma tackled and blocked everyone in sight. Rob Kalinowsky made one big block after another. Joshua Gordan and Dylan Dowdican led the defensive line while Rob DelPesce helped on the ends. Rounding out the team was Vinny Cincotta, Michael Corsi, Nick Galasso, Sean Oppedisano and George Reichle.
