The hills of Oyster Bay are once again calling out to the local running and walking community. The date is Saturday, Oct. 17, and the Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor’s Oyster Festival 5 Kilometer Run will be headquartered at the Town’s Community Center in Townsend Square.
The run will start on South Street (in front of the Firehouse) and the runners will make a left turn and on to (and up!) Berry Hill Road, make another left at the top of Berry Hill onto (and down!) Sandy Hill Road, turn left again onto East Main Street, and make a final left turn to the exciting finish at Townsend Square. This is the fourth year that this venerable event will be utilizing this unique course that shows off the scenic beauties of Oyster Bay at their best!
The run will once again be part of the USA Track & Field – Long Island Grand Prix of Long Island road races, with outstanding post-race refreshments, an excellent raffle, and awards “five” deep in age groups from 14 and under through 85 plus. Special awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers from the Town of Oyster Bay as well as the oldest and youngest finishers who are Town residents.
Every entrant will receive a high quality commemorative black and gold sweatshirt.
The run is being conducted under the auspices of the Town of Oyster Bay Department of Parks, with race management services being provided by the Greater Long Island Running Club.
New this year: the Runner’s Edge Nassau-Suffolk “Winner Take All Challenge,” with The Runner’s Edge presenting a $500 check to the first bona fide resident of either Nassau County or Suffolk County to cross the finish line.
Join host Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto, on Saturday morning, Oct. 17, for the 26th annual Oyster Bay Town Supervisor’s 5 Kilometer Run. Bring the entire family and stick around after the run for all the fun at the better-than-ever 26th annual Oyster Festival.
