Peanut-2
The little Vikings put on quite a show, led by the dynamic Gabrielle Gomez, who took a short swing pass from Zachary Leung and ran it all the way to the goal line to set up a TD by Zachary. The Wonder Twins, Rebecca and Gianna Morales, had a pair of nifty runs and nice plays on defense while Samantha Keating and Chloe Grant added some impressive runs of their own. Joseph Marino and James Michels had long runs and made some crafty defensive stops while Matthew Milianta and Jake Amato also played strong all-around games.
Girls 3-5
The Giants beat the Broncos 13-7 in a tight defensive game. Amanda Weber broke through with a 40-yard run to get the first touchdown of the game. Emily Diaz is a wild woman on defense not letting anybody pass her!
Samantha Hungerford used her height advantage and made 2 interceptions. Hanna Komorowski was a great quarterback and played excellent on defense. Valarie Minginoe made a nice catch and run for 20 yards. Madison Burke and Erica both played a nice defensive game.
Pee Wee-3
The Steelers’ Alex Ventura scored the first points of the game on a nice catch and run of a pass from Jared Aleman. The second half started with a long TD run by Brian Hayden. Later in the half, Jake Dominicci made a nice run for his first TD of the season. The Steelers played team defense all game long with a strong pass rush from Michael Molloy and some key flag pulls by Alex Hajko. In the end, it was the Steelers’ four interceptions that kept the Jets out of the end zone.
The Vikings went up against the Browns with Nicky Demers scoring three touchdowns; one on a long run and the other two on Jack Macaluso passes. Jack set up the third touchdown after a length of the field run only to be stopped on the one-yard line. Tommy Moccia contributed on offense with a great catch and run. On the other side of the line, Cody Nelson played lock down defense on his assignments with four incomplete passes when the ball came his way.
Pee Wee-4
The Giants won their second straight game. Led by Andrew Needham (2 touchdowns), Anthony Tedesco (1 touchdown), and Thomas Marcotte (1 touchdown). The Giant defense held the Patriots to just 1 touchdown, which was led by the trio of James Tedesco, Daniel Keller and Robert Keane.
The Vikings played their best all-around game to beat the Rams 18-14. Luke Morales played an inspired two-way game with a great diving flag stop and two big offensive plays. Danny Miller was huge on defense with a couple of INTs and prolific on offense with a dazzling array of long runs, including a TD. James Palagonia and Giovanni Calibar ran like the wind on a couple of long jaunts, with James’ resulting in an impressive TD and Giovanni’s setting up an amazing TD grab by Stephen Ramos. Christopher Vallone and Stephen Pantano authored multiple, impressive scoring drives at QB while Nicholas Marra anchored some tough defensive stands.
Junior Varsity-5
The Jets won’t give up – Coach Joe and the staff are quite proud of all the players. They went up against a very strong Steeler team and kept fighting until the end. The offense with Connor Hess, Will Hroch, Connor McCann, Sean McCann, Ryan Marcis and Jesse Nicolich are really beginning to execute. Also chipping in on offense and playing solid defense were Adam Best, Anthony Pizzarelli, Thomas Catalano and Luke Gruener.
The mighty Browns after a rough game in week one have responded with back-to-back good games. Tyler Sullivan had a great TD run, Matt McCarthy had an outstanding TD reception and interception also for a TD. In addition, the Browns moved the ball with receivers Andrew D’Abbraccio, Trevor Clark, Lucas Cecchetti, Michael Giovanniello, Matt LaGios and Nicholas Pantorno all benefiting from the golden arm of Nick Cappellino. The game ball was presented to Matt LaGios.
The Giants held on to beat a tough Pats team. Tyler Moloney led the Big Blue offense with 4 TDs, but he had lots of help from Tom Donovan and Jack Livingston who each threw and ran for TDs. The Giants got some big plays on “D” from Joe Schmidt, Mike Gulino, Seam Ferris, Anthony LaRosa, Sean Moloney and Joe “Hollywood” Dwyer to turn back Pats scoring drives.
Although the Patriots lost, the team really rallied to keep themselves on the scoreboard. Four touchdowns were scored thanks to Nicholas Carbone, John Melfa, Thomas Weber, and Randy Stefane.
Junior Varsity-7
The Giants jumped out to an early lead and then held on to take a 34-22 decision from the Browns. Chris Moloney directed the Giant offense throwing TD passes to Brian Christman (2 TDs) and Vinny Rubino. Paul DeSimone also chipped in with a long TD run and Matt MacKenzie hauled in 3 PATs. Mike Lynch came up with 2 big picks on defense and Marc Dittmeier put pressure on the Browns QBs all day.
Junior Varsity-8
The Rams beat the Vikings 34-27. This game was a back and forth tilt that wasn’t decided until the final seconds. The Vikings defense was outstanding, led by two “Pick 6’s” by a determined Brendan Gruener and one by Anthony Pantano. Zachary Alger had a couple of tough catches from crafty QB, Bobby Browne while Hayden Cullen played stout defense in this tight gridiron battle.
Varsity-9
The Jets beat the Steelers 30-12 with a solid defensive effort. Billy Pickett set the stage with an early interception while Brian Mazza and Nathan Kircheim kept the Steeler QB constantly on the run. On offense, Vincent Mavaro and Paul Cohen made one big play after another.
The Redskins lost to the Browns, 33 – 22. Despite a good offensive attack led by Nick Estaquio and Eric Wolfert the Skins were out-gunned by the Browns.
Scoring drives were highlighted with receptions by Jake Dickenson, Dominick Mayo, Patrick Lively, James Martens and James Carney. Despite a strong showing on defense with an interception by James Haraden and pressure from rusher Chris Griesche the Browns managed 5 scores for the win.
