Farmingdale Titans

6 and 7-Year-Olds

It has been a tough year overall for our 6/7 Titans, but that hasn’t dampened their spirits at all. This week, on a beautiful Sunday morning, the Titans came out determined to beat a much bigger and faster Wantagh Warrior team. It didn’t happen but all of the coaches were truly impressed with their efforts. Sean Gillman and Justin Steinheimer both scored amazing touchdowns. Justin’s touchdown score was a 10 yard pass from Sean and he outran the defense for the remaining 50 yds. An incredible play! A few other offensive highlights include runs by Tyler Tuma, Chris Maddie, Austin Gangale and Michael Spichalsky. The defense was led by Gio Barroso, Nick Galasso, who made 3 nice tackles, Danny Gannett, Sean Oppedisano, Joshua Gordan and Robert DelPesce, who also made 2 big tackles.

Dylan Dowdican had a solid game blocking along side Vinny McLoud and George Reichle. Vinny Cincotta and Robert Kalinowsky played a very solid game and have improved just like the rest of this amazing Titan team. Next week at home versus Levittown.

8/9 White Team

The 8/9 Titans White team played a real nail biter this weekend to a hungry West Hempstead Bronco team. The Titan defense started strong, stopping the Broncos on their first possession. On the Titans first offensive series, John Hettrich scampered for a 55-yard touchdown score to put the Titans up 6-0. The Titans defense stepped up again led by Vinny Delia and Anthony Halpin and stopped the Broncos on their next offensive possession. The strong Titan offense once again took over and marched down the field in a timely fashion. Sean Callias, Angel Romero, Tyler Nemecheck, Stephen Donnolly and Cole Glasford all blocked well for the Titans. This drive was capped off by a Chris Honan 10-yard TD run, putting the Titans up 12-0. However before the first quarter ended, Anthony Armstrong made an amazing defensive steal and ran for a 60-yard defensive touchdown. The Titans went into halftime with a 19-6 lead. The second half began with the Broncos pumped. By the middle of the 4th quarter the Broncos had somehow tied it at 19. With less than four minutes to play, Anthony Armstrong and John Hettrich combined for a tackle, fumble recovery and ran the ball back 45 yards to the Broncos five-yard line. With two minutes left Chris Honan fooled the Bronco defense with a reverse play to put the Titans ahead 26-19. Then the Titan defense took over and stopped the Broncos on 4th and seven to seal the victory. Sal Guetta, Liam Carroll, Dominick Cincotta, Kyle Horstmann, Daniel Conti all played well on a well-deserved Titan victory.
