FHS Boys and Girls Soccer Make It to Semifinals

The Dalers Boys’ and Girls’ soccer teams made it to the Nassau County Playoffs that started with back-to-back home games on Nov. 3 in the quarterfinals at FHS.

The girls’ soccer team took on MacArther in the semifinals. The Dalers were down 1-0 when Colleen Reynolds would tie it for the Dalers. MacArther would score early in the second half to go up again 2-1. But Kelly McPartland would tie it with 15 minutes left and we would go into overtime. The Dalers would score three times in overtime by Katie Murphy, Megan Sullivan and Nadine Hadagy. Goalie Kristie Summus would have 8 saves to give the Dalers a 5-3 victory to advance to the semifinals.

In the semifinals against Massapequa, Massapequa would score twice in the first half to lead 2-0. Amanda Coakley would put the Dalers on the board early in the second quarter to make it 2-1. But the Dalers could not get another goal. Goalie Kristie Summus had 4 saves for the Dalers. The Dalers playoff hopes end in the Nassau County semifinals.

In the boys’ quarterfinals against Great Neck South, the first half was scoreless. Daler John Grossman would score with 25 minutes left in the game to put the Dalers up 1-0. The Dalers played strong defense only allowing two shots on goal that was saved by goalie Matthew Ward. The Dalers would win 1-0 to advance to the Nassau County semifinals.

In the semifinals against Calhoun the first half was scoreless, but six goals were scored in the second half. Three by each team. With no goals in overtime this lead to a penalty kick shootout.

The Dalers were defeated in penalty kicks 3-2, and end their playoff hopes in the Nassau County Semifinals also. To see more photos go to www.elegantphotos4u.com.
