Beautification Project
The Committee for the Beautification of East Norwich is co-sponsoring a beautification project with the North Shore- East Norwich Rotary Club. The two organizations are getting together to plant additional daffodils at 10 a.m. at the corner of Routes 25A and 106. The Rotary Club is donating the plants/bulbs. Anyone wishing to pitch in and give a hand is encouraged to come out for about an hour and meet neighbors and help make East Norwich an even prettier place to live, work and shop. A bite to eat follows at Bagel Boss, compliments of the EN Rotary. If the group is too big, people can head to the Pancake House where the club meets several ties a month for breakfast.
Bayville Turkey Trot
The second annual Bayville Turkey Trot fundraiser to benefit the Matthew Fetzer’s Holiday Toy Drive will be held at West Harbor Memorial Beach. The toys are distributed throughout local hospitals during the holidays. The event begins with the Bayville Chicken Run, a one K fun run for tots, at 9 a.m. and is followed by the Bayville Turkey Trot at 9:45 p.m. sharp. Refreshments will be provided by the North Oyster Bay Baymen’s Association. Applications for the race are available online at bayvilleny.gov. Mail registration forms to the Recreation Department, Village of Bayville, 34 School Street, Bayville, NY 11709. Make checks payable to: Matthew Fetzer Fund. Bring an extra donation of a brand new unwrapped toy for the holiday toy drive. There will be an awards ceremony and refreshments after the race.
West Shore Road Closing
The LIRR will be replacing the Shore Road Bridge which spans over West Shore Rd., Oyster Bay/Mill Neck. The bridge is scheduled to be replaced on the weekend of Nov. 14-15.
Glen Cove Junior Baseball Travel Team Tryouts
Boys 10u at 5:30 p.m.; Boys 11u at 7 p.m. Must play in the 2010 Intramural Season to qualify. Tryouts will be held for the 2010 Spring/Summer seasons at Cove Baseball, 200 Carney St., Glen Cove. Contact: gcjbs@optonline.net.

LI Baroque Ensemble
A Reprise of Looking East/Looking West. Voices accompanied by recorders and traditional folk instruments of the period, set the stage for the music of early Spain, including haunting Sephardic melodies and Cantigas. 3 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church.
Muttontown Hike
Muttontown Preserve will host a guided hike entitled “Autumn Hike” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The hike will cover woodland trails, meadows, upland woods and wetlands. Enrollment for the hike ($5) is limited and preregistration is required by calling 571-8500 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The hike will begin at the Bill Paterson Nature Center on the preserve, Muttontown Ln., south of 25A, East Norwich.
Sagamore Yacht Club Open House
For prospective members from 3 to 5 p.m. The year-round club offers a variety of activities including social and family functions, skeet shooting and boating. Protect Our Ponds, Preserve Our Bays
Learn about important steps you can take to protect our local waters. Topics include: freshwater wetlands rules and regulations, maintaining septic systems, minimizing polluting rainwater runoff and “green” landscaping. Victorian Fair
The fair is a two day celebration of fellowship, friendship and community sprinkled with Thanksgiving goodies and unique Christmas gifts. There will be holiday gifts, crafts, specialty vendor boutiques, delicious homemade baked goods and Granny’s Attic rummage sale. The selection includes chic fashion jewelry, elegant picture frames, holiday decorations, fantasy children’s gifts and books and holiday plants. The Silent Auction will be full of one-of -a kind-items.
