Letter: Support for Lang

On Dec. 8, 2009, the residents of Hicksville will have the opportunity to elect a new fire commissioner. As a former commissioner, former chief with more than 30 years of active service and a 50-year resident of the Hicksville community, I am asking you to support and vote for Robert Lang as the next fire commissioner.

Robert has been a lifelong resident of Hicksville and has been an active member of the department for over 25 years and is completing his eighth year as a chief in the department with a membership of over 250 men and women. Aside from his family, Robert has dedicated most of his life to the fire service and is retired from the New York City Fire Department. He has a proven track record for the safety and the protection of our neighbors and their property and has gained the respect of his fellow firefighters. Unlike his opponent, Robert is involved in all aspects of the fire service, its laws and training on a daily basis and knows firsthand the needs of the firefighters.

I have had the opportunity to work along with Robert when I served as a commissioner and also as a member of the department. He is a true leader, someone you can approach and voice your opinion to and more importantly someone who knows that everyone must work together as a team to get a job done. He is a person who the department has trusted with his knowledge, dedication to the job and his leadership skills day in and day out.

You have a choice. Please join me, my family, neighbors, friends and fellow firefighters and make Robert Lang your choice and vote him in as the next fire commissioner.
