(This letter is in response to a letter printed in last week’s issue of the Observer, entitled “Inept Management in Our Village”)
This is in response to the letter of Georgiana Sena entitled “Inept Management In Our Village.” What the letter failed to disclose was that Ms. Sena was an unsuccessful candidate for village trustee last year.
I am not a candidate, although I do volunteer on the Beautification Committee, Downtown Revitalization Committee and attend monthly board meetings.
From my observation, the roads in the village were plowed expeditiously except for one street, which was inadvertently missed. The matter was discussed at the last board meeting by affected residents and action was taken to prevent a reoccurrence. So, if 99 percent of the streets were properly plowed, I would say this is a commendable operation, rather than “inept.”
In my opinion, Mr. Andrew Fisch, Superintendent of the Department of Public Works, does an exemplary job, as he is seen throughout the village and is always on site when a problem exists, regardless of the hour.
As far as the board’s medical benefits, under Mayor Starkie, the board now contributes 20 percent of the premium for medical benefits rather than the village paying 100 percent of the premium.
Now you know the whole story. I urge residents to attend the monthly board meeting on the first Monday of each month at 8 p.m.
