Farmingdale Relay for Life Bowling Fundraiser

St. Patrick’s Dinner

St. Thomas Epicopal ECW is holding its annual St. Patrick’s Dinner at 5 p.m. at 298 Conklin St. Adults $15; children under 12 $5. The menu is corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, apple crumb cake, coffee, tea and dessert. There will be hot dogs and macaroni and cheese available.

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Auction

Asian-American Cultural Festival

The fourth annual Asian-American Cultural Festival of LI will be held at Roosevelt Hall of Farmingdale State College, the event will feature natives of various Asian countries presenting cultural exhibits, live performances, art exhibitions, interactive shows and ceremonies. The festival has been called a visual extravaganza for its colorful costumes and displays and is free to attend in the afternoon from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Children will enjoy the Lion Dance, workshops, craft demonstrations and entertainment such as puppet shows geared especially to them. There will periodic drawings for raffle prizes for all ages. Throughout the afternoon there will drawings for raffle prizes for all ages with the proceeds going to both the relief efforts in Haiti and the LI-based Interfaith Nutrition Network. The program from 6 to 9:30 p.m. will feature a stage performance by noted Asian artists, an awards ceremony, VIP networking reception with foods of many nations and a Chinese raffle. Host by Barbara Novack welcomes award-winning poet Yolanda Coulaz, of Farmingdale, author of Spirits and Oxygen, a collection of poetry used in an advanced course in poetry at SUNY Stony Brook, and the forthcoming Reckoning. She also edited and published the poetry anthology For Loving Precious Beast to benefit Loving Touch Animal Rescue. Widely published, she teaches poetry writing workshops on Long Island. Play Golf with Len Berman

Mill Neck Family’s fourth annual Spring Swing Invitational Golf Tournament will be held at the North Hills Country Club in Manhasset on May 24. Sportscaster and author Len Berman will join the event, where he’ll play golf and speak at the Champions Dinner. Entries are limited to the first 25 men’s, ladies’ or mixed foursomes. All golfers will receive an autographed copy of Berman’s new book The Greatest Moments in Sports. Additional copies will be available for purchase. For an entry fee of $350 per person, guests will enjoy delicious brunch, golf challenges and food and refreshments on the 7th, 10th and 12th holes of the course. Cocktails, a Champions Dinner, honoree recognition, raffle prizes, a silent auction and golf contest awards will follow the tournament. Don’t play golf? Tax Preparation Program

For those Long Islanders unable to prepare their own tax returns, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, will provide low to moderate income households the opportunity to benefit from the government’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, which offers free tax return assistance for taxpayers. Qualifying individuals with 2009 incomes of $49,000 and below are eligible and can receive assistance. •Bingo every Monday and some Saturdays there is a Bingo Game to support the Arthritis Foundation LI Chapter. •Do You Speak Yinglish? The Yiddish Club, an entertaining, enjoyable, social experience, allows individuals of varying language abilities to speak “Yinglish,” a combination of Yiddish and English.
