After losing their starting defense last year, the Lady Daler’s lacrosse team went against a big rival, Massapequa. At 22:25 Danielle Doherty scored for Massapequa as the Lady Chiefs controlled the ball the first five minutes of the game, and had the Lady Dalers on defense.
The defense kept Massapequa to only one goal before Krya Ochwat scored for the Lady Dalers tying the game 1-1. Melanie Raso then scored three times in a minute and three seconds to give the Lady Dalers a 4-1 lead. The Lady Dalers led 6-1 before Massapequa would score again, and at the end of the first half the Lady Dalers were leading 7-3.
The defense came up strong again by only allowing two goals in the second half, while the offense would score eight more times to defeat Massapequa 15-5. Melanie Raso led the Lady Dalers with six goals and one assist. Jamie Leone had four goals, Kelly McPartland had two goals, Kim Kolodny, Kyra Ochwat, Maegan Meritz, and Alyssa Cardillo each had a goal. Lady Dalers goalie Alexandra Gurecki had four saves.
The Lady Dalers also defeated Levittown’s Division Avenue 20-6 last week to improve to 4-0 this year. Their next home game is April 19, against Southside HS.
