‘Schedule a Mammogram’
Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) joined with Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program in its annual Mother’s Day campaign to urge women to get mammograms.
“This Mother’s Day, protect yourself and others,” said Montesano. “Encourage someone you love to get a mammogram. Early detection is critical: even though 95 percent of all mammograms return normal results, it’s important to stay healthy by staying informed.”
For more information and to locate an accredited mammography facility near you, please call the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline at 1-800-877-8077. Callers can also receive emotional support from the hotline’s specially trained volunteers, many of whom are breast-cancer survivors.
The hotline, a product of Nassau County’s Adelphi University School of Social Work, was created in 1980. It is funded through the New York State Legislature, the state Department of Health, grants, and contributions.
