Baseball Skills Competition

The Garden City Recreation Department is proud to present the Aquafina Pit, Hit and Run Competition at our local level. All Garden City residents ages 7 to 14 are eligible to participate. Children will compete in pitching, hitting and running bases with the first place finishers moving on to the sectional level. The competition will be broken up into the following age groups: (Age is determined by a deadline date of July 17, 2010) 7-8 years, 9-10 years, 11-12 years, and 13-14 years.

The local competition will be held at Grove Park on Thursday, May 6 at 4 pm. There is no fee for this competition but pre-registration is necessary! Registration forms are available in the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue and must be returned to the office by Tuesday, May 4 in order to compete.

Summer Adult Tennis Lessons

The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct evening tennis lessons for adults who are residents of the Incorporated Village of Garden City. The lessons will be held at the Garden City Community Park Tennis Facility and will run one evening a week. There will be a maximum of four players on a court. The dates, times, and fees will be as follows:

May 3-June 10 Mon.,Tues.,Wed., 7-8 p.m. or Thurs. 8-9 p.m.  (six weeks) $150

Session 2

July 5-July 29     Mon.,Tues., Wed., 7:30-8:30 p.m. or Thurs. 8:30-9:30 p.m. four weeks) $100

Session 3

Aug. 2-26    Mon.,Tues., Wed., 7:30-8:30 p.m. or Thursday 8:30-9:30 p.m.$100

Visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave., to register. Payment must accompany registration. You can register for any or all of the sessions. Separate checks should be written for each session. Please make checks payable to “Inc. Village of Garden City.”

Summer Camps Announced

The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce the list of its camps for this summer. Please read this announcement carefully as it explains the types of camps, age/grade groupings, and the weeks the camp will be offered. Please note that “grade” listed refers to the grade the child is entering. The child MUST be the age listed by the start of the camp and a resident of the Village of Garden City in order to attend. Registration will begin by mail only on May 3. A description of each camp, its costs, and a registration form will be available on Friday, April 30.
