Blood Brothers
Presented by The Back Stage Theater Company of Farmingdale State College in the Little Theater, Roosevelt Hall. Blood Brothers is the haunting, compelling story about a poor woman who surrenders one of her newborn twins to the childless woman for whom she cleans. The boys grow up streets apart, never learning the truth but becoming firm friends and falling in love with the same girl. One prospers while the other falls on hard times. On the day they find out they are related, tragedy strikes both of them. Performance dates are May 8 at 8 p.m.; May 9 at 2 p.m. Tickets $5 non-Farmingdale students/senior citizens; $10 for all other patrons and free to Farmingdale students. League of Women Voters Lecture
The League of Women Voters of East Nassau presents a stimulating lecture by Beverly Cooper Neufeld, vice president of New York Women’s Agenda and coordinator of the Equal Pay Coalition of New York City, at 7:30 p.m. at the Levittown Library, 1 Bluegrass Ln. Hear about how the fight for pay equity in New York started on Long Island and what advocates across the state are doing now to promote this proven solution to eliminate wage discrimination, reduce poverty and close the wage gap. Pay equity is a system of compensating jobs based on skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions and not on the people who hold the jobs. The speaker will also share strategies and actions for increasing capital to women-owned business which will earn profits and jobs locally, as well as the need for training for non-traditional fields. Community Health Education Lecture Series

Spring Swing
Mill Neck Family’s fourth annual Spring Swing Invitational Golf Tournament will be held at the North Hills Country Club in Manhasset on May 24. Sportscaster and author Len Berman will join the event, where he’ll play golf and speak at the Champions Dinner. Entries are limited to the first 25 men’s, ladies’ or mixed foursomes. All golfers will receive an autographed copy of Berman’s new book The Greatest Moments in Sports. Additional copies will be available for purchase. For an entry fee of $350 per person, guests will enjoy delicious brunch, golf challenges and food and refreshments on the 7th, 10th and 12th holes of the course. Cocktails, a Champions Dinner, honoree recognition, raffle prizes, a silent auction and golf contest awards will follow the tournament. Don’t play golf? Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center
A social day care program offering socialization and stimulation to persons 60 and over. The caring staff provides innovative activities for those who can no longer attend regular senior centers because of physical and/or mental impairment. It also affords respite to caregivers allowing them valued time to devote to matters of home or personal needs. This interfaith service meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 407 Main St. Support groups are also held once a month on Wednesdays. Free courses and academic advice is available to economically and educationally disadvantages adults. The LI Educational Opportunity Center offers programs leading to employment in a variety of fields as well as entrance to college. The LIEOC has satellite units in many areas. Adults and Children With Learning Disabilities
ACLD, a private not-for-profit agency, is offering individual and family counseling for the primary caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities. Support groups are available for parents and siblings and new groups for senior parents, parents of transitioning high school students as well as a group for parents who have a developmental disability. Farmingdale United Methodist Nursery School
Offers classes for children from 18 months through five years old where they can grow, play and learn together. The nursery school offers a well-rounded program designed to stimulate the children creatively, socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally. Children are exposed to a variety of art-media, paint, finger paint, chalk, dough, pasting, cutting, coloring, writing, music, computers, indoor and outdoor activities and more.
