Philosophy: The Musical!
Will be performed at the Bethpage High School Center for the Performing Arts 7:30 p.m. The box office opens at 6:45 p.m. and tickets are $6. Loosely based upon The Wizard of Oz, in this story Dorothy goes on a magical journey to the Land of Why where she encounters some of the greatest minds of western philosophy. MADD Walk to Stop Drunk Driving
Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman Weisenberg as well as Lenny Rosado, father of 11-year-old Leandra who was killed on the Henry Hudson Parkway last October – who collectively saw that the governor signed Leandra’s Law strengthening child endangerment laws and requiring an ignition interlock in all offenders vehicles – will be there along with many families of drunk driving victims and community leaders. Held on the Great Lawn of Farmingdale State College. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Program at 10 a.m.

Spring Swing
Mill Neck Family’s fourth annual Spring Swing Invitational Golf Tournament will be held at the North Hills Country Club in Manhasset. Sportscaster and author Len Berman will join the event, where he’ll play golf and speak at the Champions Dinner. Entries are limited to the first 25 men’s, ladies’ or mixed foursomes. All golfers will receive an autographed copy of Berman’s new book The Greatest Moments in Sports. Additional copies will be available for purchase. For an entry fee of $350 per person, guests will enjoy delicious brunch, golf challenges and food and refreshments on the 7th, 10th and 12th holes of the course. Cocktails, a Champions Dinner, honoree recognition, raffle prizes, a silent auction and golf contest awards will follow the tournament. Don’t play golf? The JC Café at Farmingdale United Methodist Church, 407 Main St. (corner of Grant Ave.), will host well-known Christian contemporary singer Kim-Marie Vargas. Kim-Marie’s powerful witness has taken her on mission trips to Yugoslavia (where her songs reached the Pops Chart top ten), Singapore, Russia and several other countries. Currently residing on the North Shore, she now ministers in song at local churches, women’s groups and coffee houses. Opening for Kim-Marie will be the FUMC’s very own Worship Band.
