Letter: Plainview Water District Appreciates Community Suppor

On behalf of the Plainview Water District, we would like to express our appreciation and gratitude for your continued efforts in conserving water during this hot and demanding summer.

With your cooperation, the district was able to meet the water demand of all its consumers and continued to provide adequate water pressure throughout the system, which provides the ability to fight fires in the community.

When water demand approaches the district’s ability to supply water, it not only strains the pumping equipment, but can also produce low water pressure in parts of the district. In order to counteract this, there were various alerts issued by water districts across Nassau County during the month of July, asking for adherence to the Nassau County Ordinance (248A – 1987), limiting lawn watering to every other day and prohibiting it between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Even though there was significant rainfall earlier this week, we must all work together and continue to conserve water during this heat wave. We would like to once again ask you to refrain from any unnecessary water usage, such as washing cars. This consideration on your part will help avoid issues that could hinder the district’s ability to provide water for fire protection and other essential services.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
