Quantcast

The Mayor’s Corner: July 30, 2010

I hope everyone is enjoying this fine summer. It seems that one beautiful day is followed by another. While it has been hot, rain has been very limited to the demise of plants, grass, vegetables, etc.) allowing for varied outdoor activities.

Pool News:

Due to the above average temperatures, a decision was made to open the facility  at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays as opposed to the traditional 2 p.m. opening. The various work crews have begun the cleanup operations earlier than normal on Tuesday morning,  to allow for the earlier opening. This policy has been put into effect for July with a review for August. I encourage all those able to take advantage of this opportunity, to do so.

Neighborhood Watch:

This program is moving along quite well. Many of the streets in the village have block captains  who are in the process of distributing a packet of information to individual residents on their assigned blocks. It is important, that if this program is to be successful, resident involvement/cooperation is critical. Please work with your block captains and if anyone has a question contact the program coordinator Doreen Ehrbar at 747-8219. National Night Out will be observed on August 3. Additional information to follow next week.

Third Precinct

In conjunction with the Chamber of commerce, Lucille Walters and I met with Inspector Kevin Canavan regarding Williston Day and other issues confronting the village. The Inspector was extremely helpful and I believe him  to be a valuable asset to our village.

This schedule is somewhat tentative due to potential weather issues or unexpected delays or necessary changes.

July 31: Concrete base repair; Pembroke, Sheridan
