We are quite shocked and dismayed that a handful of Farmingdale residents could so adversely affect our neighborhood in Wantagh. Who are these residents? They are members of the Farmingdale Wantagh Jewish Center. Led by Toby Kase (president of the FWJC), these Farmingdale residents, as I’m sure you are probably already aware, voted to allow T-Mobile to erect six cell phone towers/antenna on the roof of the FWJC – a 100 percent residential area.
With little care for the families and children who call this quiet, clean neighborhood home, these residents have essentially locked our fate for decreasing property values, ruining the aesthetics of the neighborhood and exposing our families to the unknown risks of RF emissions.
We wonder how these same residents – many of whom live 1100 feet from the nearest cell tower in Farmingdale – would feel if cell phone towers/antenna were erected literally in their own backyards?! These towers/antenna will be no more than 100-500 feet from homes with small children in Wantagh. One neighbor’s daughter’s window will look right out at the towers. How’s that for a room with a view?
While this matter is currently pending before the Town of Hempstead, we still remain troubled that people who do not call Wantagh home would be so callous in voting to expose countless families to the risks of cell phone towers/antenna in a residential neighborhood for the almighty dollar.
It is Wantagh now, but it could very well be your residential neighborhood next.
