At the Levittown Fire Department’s Open House Kristin Rochon of Troop 3114 and Levittown Fire Department Explorer Post 620 had a chance to show the Pet Oxygen masks that she is providing as part of her Gold Award Project. Rochon raised funds for some of the masks and received a generous donation of several masks from Dr. Blauvelt of the Carman Avenue Veterinary Clinic. The Pet Oxygen masks will be placed on the three ambulances of the Levittown Fire Department. The masks will be used to help resuscitate dogs and cats that are exposed to toxic fumes. Along with the donation of the masks, Rochon demonstrated the use of the masks to the public at the open house, distributed “PET-CALS: PETS INSIDE” decals, and answered questions on pet first aid and safety. She will assist the Department’s Training Committee in the teaching the use of the masks to department members, and administering first aid to pets.
