Lillian Chester Phelan, 88, of Cranford NJ, formerly of Farmingdale, died peacefully at home on Dec. 17, 2010, surrounded by loved ones.
Mrs. Phelan was born in Manhattan. She grew up in Jamaica, Queens, and lived in Farmingdale for many years where she raised her six children. Mrs. Phelan lived in Lakewood, NJ, before moving to Cranford in 2004. A homemaker, Mrs. Phelan was active in the St. Killian’s choir and was a member of the Farmingdale Women’s Club. Mrs. Phelan was the loving wife of the late Donald J. Phelan who passed away in 2004.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph of Madison, CT, and Donald of Avon, CT; four daughters, Beth Brown of Richmond, VA, Nina Aldrich of Oak Hill, VA, Janet Collins of Cranford and Winnie Scuteri of Clinton, NJ; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was at the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, Cranford, NJ. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Dec. 21 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Cranford. Interment Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
