Root Pruning Workshop
The Bonsai Society of Greater New York, Inc. will host a Root Pruning Workshop at 8 p.m. at Farmingdale College Greenhouse. Resident bonsai artist Vincent Russo Jr. will lead participants through the process of inspecting bonsai for being in a ‘root bound’ condition, and then lead everyone through the process of removing the correct amount of soil and roots and refreshing the planting. These techniques are appropriate for houseplants as well as bonsai. Please bring a sturdy pair of chopsticks, and a temperate bonsai or a pot bound/root bound houseplant that has been in its container for at least one year. Soils and instruction will be provided. For the Love of Flowers at Clark Botanic Garden
At 1 p.m. at Clark Botanic Garden, 193 I.U. Willets Road, Albertson, Susan Tiffen will share what she has learned in creating her flower images with Dahlias and other flowers. She will also include her photographs of the Nessequoque River and Saint James/Smithtown beaches.
