Take time to participate in a series of laughter, breathing and playfulness exercises with many, many health benefits. Benefit for Max Devane – A Night for Max
The members of the Estates Engine and Protection Engine Fire Company of The New Hyde Park Fire Department will hold a fundraiser for Max Devane, who was seriously injured while battling a basement fire on 6th Avenue in New Hyde Park on February 4. He was in the hospital for five weeks and then in rehabilitation to recover from his injuries. Due to this, he was forced to withdraw from his college classes and miss an entire semester of school and may not be able to resume his summer job due to his ongoing recuperation. The fundraiser will be held at 7 p.m. at the Protection Engine company firehouse at 11 South 5th Street, New Hyde Park. All donations will be used to offset Max’s expenses related to the college semester he was forced to miss. Included in the fundraiser will be food, drink, music and raffles. Admission is $20 and a night of fun is guaranteed for an extremely worthy cause. Williston Park Beautification To Hold “Little Make a Difference Day”
The Williston Pak Beautification Committee, in order to honor Earth Day, will hold “Little Make A Difference Day” to begin at 9 a.m. Meet in the Williston Park Village Hall parking lot, at the rear of 494 Willis Avenue. T-shirts garbage bags and gloves will be provided. Please bring rakes and shovels. Groups will be assigned to public areas within the village and the committee asks only an hour or two of time to help clean up and beautify Williston Park for the spring. Go Dog Go at Long Island Children’s Museum
At 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. P.D. Eastman’s classic children’s book comes to life on the LICM stage in an exploration of movement, color and space. The dogs delve into life with gusto, creating a visual spectacle for the audience to enjoy. They snorkel. They howl at the moon. They ride on a wheel. They sing, dance and climb trees. This show is like a pop-up book that comes to life – and never stops. Go, Dog. Go! was first presented by Seattle Children’s Theatre for the 2002-2003 season and is produced by special arrangement with “Plays for Young Audiences”, a partnership of Seattle Children’s Theater and Children’s Theatre Company – Minneapolis Ages: 3 and up. The Irish-American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens will hold its Annual Spring Dinner Dance at Irish Society Center, 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola. Honorees are Maureen and Jeff Clark.
