The Floral Park- Bellerose School and John Lewis Childs School PTAs will be sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates” night on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Floral Park-Bellerose Elementary School.
The PTA believes it is important for community members to have accurate information regarding the candidates for trustee on the Board of Education of the Floral Park-Bellerose School District. The “Meet the Candidates” night will provide the community with an opportunity to meet the candidates and hear their visions for the future of the school district.
The format for the evening will be as follows: Each candidate will be given 10 minutes to introduce him/herself and discuss their issues. After each candidate has spoken, the floor will be open to questions. Before asking a question, community members must step up to the microphone and state their name and address. Questions should be stated so that each candidate has an opportunity to answer.
Community members will have three minutes to state their question and each candidate will have five minutes to respond. There will be one question per community member. After everyone has had the chance to ask one question, attendees may ask a second question. There will be no debating. The last question will be taken at 9:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available.
The PTAs encourage community members to attend this informative event. The community will be voting for trustees for the Board of Education as part of the May 17, 2011 school budget vote.
