Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Sixth Squad Detectives are asking the public for help in identifying and locating the person pictured on the right in connection with a robbery at the CVS pharmacy Farmingville Sunday, exactly one week after a gunman walked into a Medford pharmacy and fatally shot four people before leaving with a backpack full of prescription pills.
Detectives said that an unidentified man entered the CVS on Horseblock Road at approximately 12:15 p.m., approached the pharmacy service counter and inquired about the availability of specific prescription items. The man then left the store.
The man is described as a white male with a thin build, around 5 feet 8 inches tall and in his early 20s. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a white and red baseball hat and dark-colored pants.
A week earlier and only a few miles away David Laffer allegedly walked into Haven Drugs in Medford and killed two employees and two customers before leaving with a backpack full of unspecified prescription painkillers, police sad. The killings were caught on security camera.
The employees killed were 45-year-old pharmacist Raymond Ferguson of Centereach, and his 17-year-old assistant, Jennifer Mejia, of East Patchogue—who, instead of graduating from Bellport High School on Thursday, was buried on Friday. The two customers were 71-year-old Bryon Sheffield of Medford and Jamie Taccetta, 33, of Farmingville.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5000.00 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
