POB Xtreme Power Soccer Team Wins Girls-Under-15 Arch Capital Group Challenge Cup

This year’s journey for the Plainview-Old Bethpage Xtreme Power (POB XP) Soccer Team started on April 9. After winning three games during April and May, the stage was set for the POB XP division-three team versus the Lindenhurst Extreme division-one team in the finals of the Girls Under-15 Arch Capital Group Challenge Cup on June 17, right at home at Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview. Both “Extreme” teams were ready to play.

Lindenhurst, the 2010 champions, had not given up a goal so far in the whole tournament. On the rainy morning of June 17, many people came down to support the POB XP at their big game. When Lindenhurst quickly took the lead at 1-0, the players from POB XP did not fret; their last four wins required coming back from behind. The team showed their grit and tied the game 1-1 with two minutes left in the first half. After the break, the POB players came out fired up for the second half, and scored another goal to make the score 2-1.

But the question remained: could they hold the lead against a powerhouse team? Fortunately, from keeper to defense to midfielders to forwards, everyone played hard defense, which resulted in a win for the POB XP. Congratulations go out to the champions.
