Alexa Chung has called it quits with Alex Turner, frontman for Arctic Monkeys.
Chung’s spokesperson reportedly said, “Sadly Alexa and Alex have split, although they remain close.”
According to tvnz.com, insiders blame the pair’s working commitments for causing them to drift apart, and with Chung based in New York for the summer while Turner is on the road with the band, the couple did not want to continue with a long-distance romance.
The two had been dating since 2007.
Rumors of the split came after the two both appeared at the iTunes festival in London earlier this month and weren’t seen together the entire night, tvnz.com reported.
Chung, 27, is a UK television presenter and contributing editor for British Vogue. She currently hosts “Gonzo with Alexa Chung” for MTV UK and is the face of Lacoste’s “Joy of Pink” fragrance and Superga’s sneakers.
Although a hit in the UK, Chung wasn’t too popular in the U.S., her television show “It’s On With Alexa Chung,” lasted less than a year. In January 2011, she co-hosted NBC’s “2011 Golden Globe Arrivals Special” and is set to release another show this fall, PBS’s “Thrift America.”
