The McKinley High Glee Club wanted more than just one hour episodes on the Fox network and today they released “Glee: the 3D Concert Movie” centered on their recent tour stop at New Jersey’s Meadowlands.

The 90-minute film also includes their own renditions of popular pop music including “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey and “Raise Your Glass” by Pink.

Glee debuted in 2009 as a show about teen angst in the form of songs and dance numbers. It has since produced 11 CDs, books, DVD box sets, two concert tours and a reality show spinoff.

All Gleeks will get the opportunity to see their favorite characters and maybe one of their favorite musical numbers up close and personal on the big screen.

However, there will be one large casting difference. Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester in the series, was cut from the theatrical version of the film, but will remain on the DVD version.

Ryan Murphy, the show’s co-writer, released a statement regarding the matter explaining, “We’re doing another version in a couple of weeks on DVD. Jane will be on that. We’ll do it that way.”

The movie still held onto the values it shares with viewers every week which is that you are beautiful no matter what and although the movie is essentially a live concert the director, Kevin Tancharoen, still attempts to bring those issues to light.

The movie featured personal one on ones with the cast members, and even featured a character that was originally booted from the show, Chord Overstreet.
