Traffic Signal – Franklin Avenue and Seventh Street
Superintendent Robert Mangan, of the Village’s Department of Public Works, recently contacted the Nassau County Department of Public Works with the request that they adjust the timing of the traffic signal at Franklin Avenue and Seventh Street. I am pleased to report that Nassau County has made an adjustment to the traffic signal and they have extended the pedestrian timing crossing on Franklin Avenue.
In order for the pedestrian to get the extended timing, the pedestrian must press the pushbutton on the corners of the intersection and then wait for the “Walk” signal to be displayed.
Local Law – Solicitations
The village’s solicitation law prohibits all unwanted commercial solicitations and distributions on all private residential property in the Village and prohibits non-commercial solicitations and distributions on private property to the extent desired by the resident. This law was designed to protect residents from unwanted invasions of their privacy.
However, any resident who does not wish any solicitations should complete a “Notice of Objection” form at Village Hall. If you complete such form and are solicited, advise the solicitor that you have a non-solicitation request on file. If they persist, and I doubt they will, please call the Garden City Police Department at 465-4100.
As of this writing, the only group that has permission is the New York Youth Club. The New York Youth Club has been given permission to solicit on the following Saturdays, August 20, September 24, October 29, November 12, December 3 and December 10, between the hours of 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Parking Field #12 — East Side of Franklin Avenue Between 12th and 14th Streets

Please do not park within the construction zone and exercise caution when driving or walking near areas of construction. Please take notice of any temporary parking restrictions posted by the Police Department as they will be strictly enforced. Additional parking can be found in Parking Field #11 (west side of Franklin Avenue) and in Parking Field #9E (south of Eleventh Street). The work in the northern half of Parking Field #12 is complete and this portion of the parking field is fully reopened for use.
