Lady Dragons Start Strong

This season the Nassau County Girls’ Soccer Coaches Association has decided to return to ability based conferences. After capturing three consecutive conference titles the Lady Dragons of Division were seeded fourth in the county among the “A” classification high schools and moved to the county’s top conference.

Division has started the season with a 5-0 record. Three of these wins were by shutouts! Powering the offense is Susan Ballantyne, Erica Bleimeyer, Maggie Carew, Krista Fitzpatrick, Julia Kardonsky, Rachel Murdukhayev, Joanne Orellana, Sara Pedroza, Hera Shapiro, and Ariana Weingrad. Krista Fitzpatrick leads the county in assists while Sue Ballantyne, Maggie Carew, and Ari Weingrad are all among the league leaders in total points.

The stingy Dragon defense is lead by Kim Beattie, Courtney Boneillo, Joanna Capitelli, Paola Diaz, Gina Fader, Alyssa Fiore, Taylor LeBright, Miranda Pedroza, and Alexa Schneider. Gina Fader has recorded three shutouts in the first four games of her first starting varsity season! The girls are hoping to contend with Garden City and Southside for the conference “A1” title.
