Junior Varsity 5
The Patriots had an outstanding day with a shutout of a tough Steelers team! Nicky Demers connected on a sweet pass and nice catch by Nyle Gordon for the first half’s only touchdown for either team! The second half offense started off with a nice run by Demers to set up a quick first down. Avery Stevenson and Jevon Evans had catches and runs to keep the Patriots offense going. A second Demers to Gordon strike resulted in the Patriots second touchdown for the day! The Patriots played shutdown defense in the second half with Matthew Widmer putting pressure on the Steelers QBs, Dylan Reilly, Nicholas Demeri, and Thomas Moccia playing tight D and Demers and Gordon knocking down passes. Gordon added two more interceptions including a pick six that iced the game!
Junior Varsity 6
The Bengals were awesome on Sunday. Anthony Tedesco threw four 65-yard touchdown passes to Jack Leghart, Joe DeFlorio, and Andrew Needham (2). The Bengals had three interception returns for touchdowns by Andrew Needham (2) and Anthony Tedesco. Anthony Patullo, Tyler Looney, and Steven Nostrand led the defense.
Girls 7-9
The Jets won a hard fought game against the Vikings 12-6. Theresa DeSantis threw a long touchdown pass to Jayme Rosner to open the scoring in the first half. Summer Baranello set up the second score with a key interception, which she ran back to the one-yard line. DeSantis and Rosner hooked up for the second touchdown on a short shovel pass. The defense played well, holding a quick Vikings team to only one touchdown. Mia Inzirillo had a very good game, making several clutch catches to keep drives alive. Katie Pich also had a strong game rushing the passer and centering and running on offense.
Pee Wee 3
On Sunday, Sept. 25, the third grade Cardinals tied the Vikings. Brendan Moritz led the team with three touchdowns and two extra points. Tyler Solis and Avery Avila scored additional extra points. Ron Brodman, Vincent Sottile and twins Ayub and Yaqub Tursonzadah, demonstrated excellent defensive skills, holding the Vikings to a tie score, even after overtime.
