061031 heavy dPopular 90s rapper, Heavy D, reportedly passed away earlier today.

According to TMZ, the rapper, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon today after he was found unconscious on a walkway near his Beverly Hills home. Only an hour later, he was pronounced dead.

Heavy D died at 44 years old.

According to Rolling Stone, police are investigating his death but there are no signs of foul play.

“BE INSPIRED,” was the rapper’s last tweet about 15 hours ago. It followed a tweet, in which the rapper offered his condolences to a famous boxer who passed away earlier this week.

“SMOKIN JOE FRAZIER..RIP.. truly one of the best heavyweight champs that ever lived.. GODS SPEED,MR FRAZIER!” he tweeted.

Although, shying away from the limelight in recent years, this past October, the rapper made a surprise appearance at the BET Awards. Heavy D took the stage at the BET Awards, marking his first live performance in over 10 years.

The Jamaican-born rapper is best known for leading Heavy D & the Boyz, a hip hop group that was popular in the 1990s. So popular that Notorious B.I.G. referred to him in his hit song “Juicy.”

The group is best known for their hits, “Now That We Found Love,” and their album “Living Large.”

Throughout the years, he’s branched out from music and found success in other areas including film. The rapper has appeared in movies and television shows including “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,” “Big Trouble,” “Life,” and “Law & Order: SVU.”

Most recently, Heavy D had ventured into reggae.
