It was a great end to the season for the Locust Valley-Bayville Falcons United won the division championship against the Valley Stream Tornadoes in an epic soccer battle that ended with a 4-3 victory.
The Falcons United ended the season undefeated with two ties.
The final game was a tough fight, pitting the Valley Stream Tornadoes against the Locust Valley Falcons United.
Both teams played with amazing heart in a back and forth battle. Going into the last two minutes of the game the Falcons were down 3-2 and in a fantastic full press tactical offense they scored two goals with only seconds left on the clock to win the division!
Coaches Alex Gallego and Larry Van Patten have been building one the most elite travel teams over the past several years. But they are also building men. They teach lessons that are greater than those learned on the field. These boys learn of commitment, responsibility, teamwork. They learn acceptance, camaraderie, and to face challenges – both on and off the field. Sports is a venue that teaches life lessons.
“We are proud of these young men for honoring the game of soccer that they played with skill, passion, and determination,” said Coach Van Patten.
“It was certainly a game to remember… It was a team united,” said Coach Gallego.
