Portledge Varsity Girls Basketball Team Wins Invitational

Kravietz, Tsiames help boost team to win

Congratulations to the Portledge School (Locust Valley) Varsity Girls Basketball team that won the 2011 Portledge Basketball Invitational. The Lady Panthers defeated Martin Luther 56-40 in the championship game on Saturday, Dec. 10. Ceci Mulry ’13 (Glen Cove) and Tamara Simpson ’14 (North Babylon) were selected to the All-Tournament team, and Tamara Simpson was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. This is the girls’ first championship in the event since 1996.

Members of the team include: Lisa Dourmashkin ’12 (Locust Valley), Bizzer Gahagan ’15 (Lattingtown), Lainie Gahagan ’13 (Lattingtown), Kristie Kelly ’13 (Oyster Bay), Samantha Kravietz ’13 (Melville), Alexa Lodenquai ’12 (Westbury), Ceci Mulry ’13 (Glen Cove), Edugie Ojo ’14 (Wheatley Heights), Arielle Parris ’13 (Hempstead), Imani Sewell ’14 (Brookville), Eve Shapiro ’13 (Glen Cove), Tamara Simpson ’14 (North Babylon), Alisa Shvartsbart ’14 (Glen Cove), and Carley Tsiames ’14 (Massapequa). Faculty members Skip Amadio, John Greene and Francesca Maiello coach the team.
