Nancy Hussey Knows Oyster Bay
Nancy Hussey called and identified the mystery picture in the Feb. 16 issue of the Enterprise Pilot. She said, “It is the short street into the parking lot with the Earle Wightman on the right and the big new Oyster Bay Historical Society headquarters straight ahead. And all the shrubbery show the colonial gardens. They are lovely and they are tended by the North Shore Garden Club very diligently and patiently.”
Jeffery Gier, said, “It’s the Earle-Wightman House. I know because my dad’s a member of the Italian-American Club right by it.”
Belle Santora said, “It’s the Wightman building. It was originally on South Street.” On a lesson for today, she said, “If everybody put their troubles out on a clothes line – they would take their own clothes [troubles] back.”
Eileen Aliani said, “The mystery picture in the Feb. 9 issue was taken at the 9/11 Memorial at TR Park. It’s a side view.” Ms. Aliani, an East Norwich resident added, “I’m surprised there are not more letters on the proposed one lane change on Route 106 in East Norwich. It sounds like a nightmare.”
Billy Minicozzi recognized the white picket fence and the back of the house in Oyster Bay in the Feb. 16 issue. On a weekly comment on the sports scene, he said that Gary Carter had died of a brain tumor. “He was the catcher for the ’86 Mets when they won the World Series,” he said
Well that is a world of comment on one building going up in Oyster Bay. We loved the photograph showing the steel work that was the basis of the new environmentally controlled building that is the Koenig Center.
