Picture 161Ashton Kutcher has just released a humorous new video for Popchips brand, a dating service commercial in which he plays different men from around the globe.

Since being posted, the video has proved both popular and controversial. Kutcher’s portrayal of first character Raj has upset many who, according to reports, say highlights racial stereotypes.

The video starts with Kutcher sitting down as Raj, a 39-year-old Bollywood producer sporting a dark tan and mustache.

Raj says he’s looking for “the most delicious thing on the planet” in a full Indian accent and goes on to say, “like Kardashian hot, I would give that dog a bone” before adding, “I like Snooki.”

The video has taken heat and prompted the company to defend it. According to MTV, a spokesperson for the company said, “The new popchips worldwide dating video and ad campaign featuring four characters was created to provoke a few laughs and was never intended to stereotype or offend anyone.”

“At popchips we embrace all types of shapes, flavors and colors, and appreciate all snackers, no matter their race or ethnicity. We hope people can enjoy this in the spirit it was intended,” the company reportedly said.

In the video, Kutcher also takes on ther persona of a 24-year-old hippie named Nigel who is seeking “higher planes of consciousness” and fashionista Darl, who happens to be very reminiscent of Karl Lagerfeld.

But that’s only the beginning. Kutcher also takes on a hillbilly named Swordfish, 29, who is looking for something “hot and spicy.”

All of his characters go on to describe themselves and then what they are looking for in a woman, though Darl doesn’t have the time explain much as he admits he is sucking in his gut to make himself look skinnier.

The video culminates with the real Ashton, 34, who sits down and notes, “Your waiting room is like a freak show,” before asking,”Are we all in the same category?”

Check it out.
