Michael Amante supports veterans at upcoming Westbury show
Michael Amante, affectionately known as the “People’s Tenor,” announced that he will play NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Sunday, June 3 at 3 p.m. The concert will feature special guest, Ric Mango and an appearance by Amante’s duet partner, Marissa Famiglietti.
A portion of the proceeds from this concert will benefit the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans and DAV Chapter 76 National Amputation Foundation, Inc. In addition, Music and Theatre Legacy Foundation (MTLF) will be awarding its inaugural scholarship for performance studies to New Hyde Park Memorial High School student Nicole Kemmet.
Michael Amante will perform a collection of his own extensive repertoire of classical, contemporary and Broadway show tunes. Describing hearing the Emmy-nominated tenor and recording artist sing, Tony Bennett said, “that’s the most beautiful singing I’ve heard in years.”
Amante’s combination of romantic charm and emotionally charged singing has captivated audiences worldwide, including the late Luciano Pavarotti, who recognized his unique talent immediately. Faced with his own health issues, Pavarotti suggested Amante perform in his stead before an international audience.
MTLF is a not-for-profit organization and a co-sponsor of this concert. The mission of MTLF is to build a bridge to a new generation of audiences by providing them with engaging learning experiences that celebrate the great legacies of world-class music and theatre. The focus is to enrich the lives of students through their performances with professional musicians and actors. MTLF is an Arts in Education public charity and holds a certificate of authority from the New York State Education Department.
